Mercury Dasha: Arriving at neutrality

ree

Regular spiritual practice not only makes one resilient in the face of challenges but helps in adapting to reality as it is. A lot of people often seem to find the Mercury dasha in the chart a little difficult to deal with often because Mercury is not only the mischievous, creative and verbose child we're often taught about. Mercury is the planet of neutrality, discernment and an inner state of balance. Think about it this way, Hermes is the only deity that can traverse all 3 realms (heaven, earth and underworld). Similarly, in Hinduism, one of Lord Vishnu's avatar (Vamana) has the ability to step and own these realms. The reason for this is that any change in environment requires adaption and blending/uniting with the circumstances of said environment in order to make the best of it. What is the ultimate goal of Mercury esoterically? To develop buddhi/discernment/intelligence. If you can't adapt, you can't evolve and you also will find it difficult to grow your intellectual capabilities. For Mercury dashas, developing inner equilibrium which translates to outer adaptability helps in making the most out of the circumstances a dasha pati like Mercury can put you in. People might often find Mercury dashas or retrogrades or transits a little difficult to deal with mainly because of their inner rigidity and how they've conditioned to feel boxed by labels, societal expectations etc. The youthfulness and softness of Mercury is achieved when there are no internal stories attached to external circumstances... this is also where you gain clarity and become non-reactive and non-violent.
